2004-05 CBA All-League First and Second Teams announced

Boise, ID (March 22, 2005) — The Continental Basketball Association announced today the CBA All-League First and Second Teams for the 2004-05 season, as selected by CBA Head Coaches. To be eligible, players must have played in 24 games (1/2 of the 48 game schedule) and be in good standing with the CBA. Coaches could not vote for their own players.

Team members are listed below in the order of votes received.

ALL-LEAGUE FIRST TEAM

SAM CLANCY, Idaho Stampede – F/C, 6-7, 240 (USC ’02) – Earned League Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year awards…Was a three-time CBA Player of the Week selection (Dec. 19 – 25, Jan. 9 – 15, Jan. 16 – 22)…Voted to the 2005 Western Conference All-Star Team where he posted 25 points and 17 rebounds en route to being named the Game MVP of the 21st CBA All-Star Classic…Finished the season ranked 7th in scoring (19.1 ppg), 2nd in rebounding (10.8 rpg), and 3rd in blocked shots (2.2 bpg).

JACKIE BUTLER, Great Lakes Storm – C, 6-10, 250 (Coastal Christian Academy HS ’04) – Earned CBA Rookie of the Year honors…Named CBA Player of the Week twice (Dec. 26 – Jan. 1, Feb. 20 – 26)…Placed second in MVP balloting…Voted to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team (eight points, six rebounds, two blocked shots)…Ranked 14th in scoring (18.0 ppg), and 3rd in rebounds (10.7 rpg)…Received an NBA call-up to the New York Knicks on February 28.

BILLY THOMAS, Dakota Wizards – G, 6-5, 218 (Kansas ’98) – Named the CBA Newcomer of the Year…Earned Player of the Week honors for Dec. 12 – 18 after posting 27.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game…Voted to the Western Conference All-Star Team, though did not play due to NBA call-up…Ranked 3rd in scoring (20.8 ppg), 6th in steals (2.0 spg), and 1st in three-point field goal percentage (.446, 70 of 157)…Received an NBA call-up to the New Jersey Nets on January 21.

MAURICE BAKER, Dakota Wizards – G, 6-2, 200 (Oklahoma State ’02) – Ranked 5th in assists (7.0 apg) and 7th in steals (1.9 spg)…Averaged 17.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in 34 games (24 started) for the Wizards…Posted a season-high 29 points on January 16 against the Yakima Sun Kings…Recorded 14 assists against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on January 14…Received his first NBA call-up of the season to the Los Angeles Clippers on February 22…Received his second NBA call-up to the Portland Trail Blazers on March 12.

RANDY LIVINGSTON, Sioux Falls Skyforce – G, 6-4, 200 (LSU ’96) – Earned Player of the Week honors for February 13 – 19, after posting 16.0 points and 11.8 assists per game…Ranked 2nd in assists (8.4 apg) and 5th in steals (2.1 spg)…Jumped into 10th place on the CBA All-Time Leaders list for assists (1,616) after posting 336 during the season…Voted to the Western Conference All-Star Team (19 points, 10 assists)…Earned his seventh career NBA call-up (CBA record) when he signed with the Utah Jazz on March 3.

ALL-LEAGUE SECOND TEAM MELVIN SANDERS, Dakota Wizards – G, 6-5, 210 (Oklahoma State ’03) – Named to the All-Defensive Team…Earned two CBA Player of the Week awards (Feb. 20 – 26, March 6 – 13)…Ranked 10th in scoring (18.7 ppg) and 6th in free-throw percentage (.855, 159 of 186)…Voted to the Western Conference All-Star Team (two points, one steal)…Posted a league season-high 54 points on March 13 against Rockford.

DESEAN HADLEY, Sioux Falls Skyforce – G, 6-4, 200 (Eastern Michigan ’01) – Named to the All-Defensive Team…Earned CBA Player of the Week honors for December 5 – 11 after posting 25.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game…Ranked 4th in free-throw percentage (.860, 245 of 285) and 8th in three-point field goal percentage (.380, 63 of 166)…Averaged 16.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in 48 games (44 started) for Sioux Falls…Voted to the Western Conference All-Star Team (15 points, four assists).

MARK JONES, Great Lakes Storm – G, 6-6, 215 (Central Florida ’98) – Earned CBA Player of the Week honors for the week of December 5 – 11, after posting 25.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game…Ranked 4th in scoring (20.8 ppg)…Averaged 5.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in 41 games (40 started) for the Storm…Voted to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team (15 points, eight rebounds).

JEMEIL RICH, Gary Steelheads – G, 5-10, 170 (Southern Methodist ’97) – Named to the All-Defensive Team for the second straight year…Led the league in assists (9.7 apg) and steals (2.8 spg), and ranked 15th in scoring (17.8 ppg)…Grabbed a league-high eight steals on January 12 against Rockford…Voted to the Eastern Conference All-Star Team (15 points, 10 assists).

EZRA WILLIAMS, Great Lakes Storm – G, 6-5, 210 (Georgia ’03) – Earned CBA Player of the Week honors twice (Nov. 19 – 27, March 6 – 13)…Ranked 2nd in scoring (20.9 ppg) and steals (2.3 spg), and 5th in free-throw percentage (.858, 139 of 162)…Averaged 3.3 assists and 5.9 rebounds per game in 28 games (14 started) for the Storm.
