
1st Annual Cannons Charity Golf Classic Huge Success

BOSTON, MA (October 28, 2015) - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) raised money to benefit Boston Children's Hospital at the 1st Annual Boston Cannons Charity Golf Classic held at the Granite Links Golf Club on Monday, October 26th. Over 100 partners and affiliates participated in the golf tournament and enjoyed a dinner reception followed by awards, raffles, and silent auctions.
This marks the first year the Cannons have hosted the Golf Tournament, and it was a tremendous success.
Several Cannons players participated in the event including Kevin Buchanan, Mitch Belisle, Jordan Burke, Brent Adams, TA Demoulas, Marty Bowes, Mike Maggio, and Assistant Coach Jim Murphy. Cannons new Head Coach Sean Quirk joined for the dinner reception and awards.
"We are very proud of the outcome of our first charity golf event," said Cannons President Ian Frenette. "The support and turnout from our partners, players, coaches and season ticket holders was beyond our expectations. The tournament was extremely well executed from start to finish and the success of the day is allowing us to make an impact for such a worthy organization."
Cannons Director of Sponsorship Sara Berry welcomed everybody and delivered introductions. Hardy from 98.5 the Sports Hub emceed the event and dinner reception. Cannons President Ian Frenette thanked everyone for supporting the charity event and welcomed a special family to share their positive experience with Boston Children's Hospital.
A patient family of Boston Children's Hospital spoke to the participants at the dinner reception on behalf of her son who was born with a heart condition that had him receive his first surgery at Boston Children's as an infant. The mother credit's Boston Children's Hospital for being the main reason he is the happy and inspiring ten year old he is today. Coach Quirk and his players presented the family with a personalized Cannons Team Jersey and praised the patient for his courage and determination throughout all the medical treatments he's endured.

"We are so pleased with the support we received and the donation we were able to give to Children's. We are already excited for the 2nd Annual tournament next year."
