14 Will Return for Lancers 2013/14 Season

March 4, 2013 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) - Rochester Lancers News Release

(Rochester, NY) - The Rochester Lancers today announced the return of 14 players for the 2013/14 season, pending league approval. With experienced players returning, fans should expect a high standard on the field next season.

"Our players create connections with our fans and it's important that we maintain that aspect," said Rich Randall, Lancers Vice President. "With that said, we are also committed to building a team that can contend for a championship."

In goal, both Patrick Hannigan and Gavin McInerney are under contract for next season. Combined, the two had 342 total saves on the year. Hannigan will be playing in the second year of a three-year contract. Local keeper Marc Sotile will also be back.

On defense, Troy Cole, Paul Craig, Pedrinho, Jake Schindler, and Kyle Manscuk will be returning. With 33 blocks on the season, Schindler was named the team's Defensive Player of the Year.

The high energy play of Enrique, Gary Boughton, Jeremy Ortiz, and Elliot Fauske will return at midfield. Boughton, Ortiz, and Fauske have each received MISL Team of the Week honors this season. Collectively, these returners generated 70 points offensively and 33 blocks on defense.

Forwards Mauricio Salles and Doug Miller will be back for another season. Salles will be playing in year two of his three-year contract. He finished second overall in MISL scoring with 34 goals and 97 total points. He finished tied for first in the MISL in three-point goals, with nine on the season. He was named to the MISL Team of the Week four times. Miller finished the season atop the MISL in scoring and total points. With 44 goals and 102 total points, he led the league in both categories. He was named the MISL Player of the Month in December, was twice named MISL Player of the Week, and named to the MISL Team of the Week five times. His six-goal effort against Missouri tied an MISL single game scoring record.

Lancers defender Brayton Knapp will be joining the Seattle Sounders of MLS as their Assistant Director of Youth Programs. After a successful Lancers career, Knapp will be heading back to his native Seattle, using his playing and coaching experience to help develop the Sounders youth programs.
