Indiana Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Former Indiana Ice forward Garrett Roe and goaltender Alex Kangas headline a 14-player Ice contingent who will lace up their skates this weekend for hockey's version of March Madness. The road to the "Frozen Four" in Denver begins with 16 teams comprised of teams from six Division 1 conferences.

Roe, who played three seasons in Indiana, was second in the nation in scoring among freshmen as he amassed 44 points (18G, 26A) in 37 games for the St. Cloud State Huskies of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. For his efforts, the gritty winger was named to the All-WCHA Second Team and the All-WCHA Rookie Team.

Kangas, who was the Ice's number one netminder last season, took over the number one goaltending position for Minnesota (WCHA) about a month into the season and went on a statistical tear. He finished the year with a 10-8-9 record and set the Gophers' single season records for GAA (1.95) and save percentage (.930). His recent play at the WCHA Final Five Tournament earned him MVP honors and helped put Minnesota into the NCAA Tournament.
