Thirty-Three Former WCL Players Appeared on MLB Postseason Teams in 2026

September 29, 2026 - In 2026, West Coast League alumni (33 players) appeared in at least one game for nine of the 12 MLB postseason clubs. The Wenatchee AppleSox, 2026 WCL champions, had a player each summer from 2014-17 who's now in the MLB postseason. For the second straight year, former Corvallis Knight Matthew Boyd takes the mound in Game 1 of the postseason for the Chicago Cubs. Former MLB Infielder Frye Joins HarbourCats Coaching Staff

August 31, 2026 - VICTORIA, B.C. - Add another former Major League player to the coaching staff of the Victoria HarbourCats of the West Coast League -- and one who definitely has opinions on how the game should be played. Jeff Frye, who registered nine years and 15 days of MLB service and 667 big-league games overall, joins the staff led by Head Coach Todd Haney, another former MLB infielder who himself played parts of five seasons with the Expos, Cubs and Mets. 2026 HarbourCats Reliever Lands Pro Contract

August 27, 2026 - VICTORIA, B.C. - Hard-throwing right-hander Nathan Mueller has used a summer with the Victoria HarbourCats to land an MLB contract. The six-foot-five, 215-pound Fort Worth product, who was at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, has inked a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, after spending the summer in the West Coast League in Victoria. Record Attendance Highlights Summer

August 27, 2026 - The West Coast League's 21st season delivered its most-attended year yet, an inaugural trip to the postseason for one of its newer members, and a see-saw championship game that went down to the wire. Overall attendance rose by nearly 26,000 fans from 2025 to 2026, a notable jump considering the Cowlitz Black Bears sat out the season due to stadium considerations.
