May 14, 2005 - Central Baseball League (Central League)
Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
For the second straight night, the Coastal Bend Aviators came from behind to defeat the Shreveport Sports 7-4 at Fair Grounds Field as the Sports dropped their fifth straight game.
The Sports had taken a 4-0 lead in the third inning highlighted by a two run home run by Chad Gambill, his second home run in as many games. That lead didn't last long as Coastal Bend scored two unearned runs in the fourth and took the lead with a four-run fifth inning. Edwin Maldonado broke the 4-4 tie with a two-run home run to right centerfield. That blow came off Shreveport losing pitcher Josh Gold (0-1). Ken Henderson (1-0), the starting pitcher for Coastal Bend picked up the victory and Shawn Morgan pitched the ninth to record his first save of the year.
Hector Lebron led the Sports with three of the six Shreveport hits as the Sports fall to 1-8 and Coastal Bend remains in first place in the Central League with a 6-2 record.
Shreveport and Coastal Bend will meet Sunday in the final game of the three game series at Fair Grounds Field. Game time 2:05.
