Yellow Jackets Tab Vena as Offensive Coordinator/ Director of Player Personnel

Ryan Vena joins the Philadelphia Yellow Jackets after spending two seasons with the Trenton Freedom. Vena played ten seasons of Arena Football with six different teams as a quarterback. Vena last played in 2011.

Vena coached Warren Smith in 2014 with the Freedom and helped Smith win the PIFL MVP award that season. Smith and Vena will reunite this season with the Yellow Jackets.

Vena was a four time AF2 All-Arena first team quarterback in his career. He also won an AF2 offensive player of the year award in 2007, along with winning the ArenaCup MVP.

In his four seasons in the Arena Football League, Vena threw for 11,906 yards, 221 touchdowns and had a completion percentage of 62.5%.

Vena was teammates with Yellow Jackets coaches Mike Brown and Dustin Barno in 2011 with the Philadelphia Soul. In 2010, Vena played Barno and Brown when he was a member of the Iowa Barnstormers.

Vena went to Colgate University and was named to four straight All-Patriot League first team selections, and is the only player to ever win three Patriot League MVP.

Ryan, his wife and daughter reside in New Jersey, and are expecting a boy in March.
