(MADISON) - The Wisconsin Wolfpack (1-0) hit the road in an early-season battle for dominance in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL). They travel to Cincinnati to play the Cincinnati Commandos (3-0) at the Cincinnati Gardens Saturday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. CT.
The Wolfpack narrowly defeated the Miami Valley Silverbacks (0-2) last Saturday at the Hartmeyer Arena, 38-32. Running back Eric Donoval rushed for three touchdowns and quarterback Brian Ryczkowski passed for two more. Defensive back Mark Mashburn picked off two passes while former Wisconsin Badgers defensive back Josh Nettles intercepted a pass and returned a kick 37 yards to the Silverbacks' one-yard line, setting up a Wolfpack score late in the first half.
The Wolfpack lost Ryczkowski in the second half of the game on a sack for a safety. Ryczkowski broke his collarbone. Veteran indoor quarterback Shane Adler stepped in and led the Wolfpack on two scoring drives. Rookie Dan Roberts will be the backup.
The Commandos, in their first season of existence, have dominated their first three opponents, winning by an average 28 points. The Commandos lead the CIFL in scoring offense and scoring defense. Former University of Cincinnati standout quarterback Ben Mauk leads the CIFL in passing, averaging 148 yards per game with 14 touchdowns and just one interception. Dominic Goodman is Mauk's top target with 15 catches for 163 yards and six touchdowns, leading the league in all three categories.
