MISSISSAUGA, ON - The Westchester Knicks (12-13) split its 2017 NBA Development League Showcase series 1-1 upon falling 118-108 this morning to the Canton Charge (13-12), the Cleveland Cavaliers' affiliate.
Knicks forward Courtney Fells continued to impress, coming within reach of a triple-double off a 23-point performance that included nine rebounds, eight assists, and two steals. Charge guard Quinn Cook dominated all scorers in his team's win, knocking in 40 points to go with eight assists and four rebounds. Forward John Holland pitched in 28 points, hitting 4-of-5 attempts from three-point land and adding six each of redounds and assists. Chris Evans contributed an additional 16 points, while Jonathan Holmes had 13 from the bench.
The action between the two teams was all back-and-forth for the majority of the first twelve minutes before Canton took off on a 12-4 run to end the first with an eight-point lead. The Knicks answered back in the second, almost doubling its points from the first with a 38-point second quarter performance. Westchester's Jordon Crawford went off for 12 points from the bench, pushing the Knicks back within one-point heading into the second half.
Westchester's Courtney Fells tied it up on the first possession in the third en route to his own 12-point quarter, while his team took the lead on the ensuing possession off an alley-oop from Mike Davis. The Charge kept it tight though, the score not reaching past a four-point differential through the quarter.
