Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TX -The Texas Legends (8-9) presented the USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year award to Jameel Warney before Friday night's contest against the Oklahoma City Blue (8-9), and Warney followed it up with a season-topping performance to lead the team to a 118-116 victory.

Bryce Alford opened the game with a long ball for Oklahoma City but the Legends answered quickly to regain the lead and held on through the quarter despite two tying attempts from the Blue. The visitors flipped the tables in the second, taking the lead and holding on until an outside shot from Kyle Collinsworth sent both teams to the locker room even at 57.

Texas took their largest lead of the night in the third, going up 15 midway through the quarter. The Blue responded with a 16-2 run and pulled ahead before the buzzer. Oklahoma City held the advantage until 2:14 remained on the clock when Justin Dentmon pushed the Legends back on top and Jameel Warney hit back-to-backs to seal the Legends' victory.

Warney led all scorers with 33 points and a season-high 15 rebounds. Collinsworth added his fourth straight double-double with 14 points and a season-high 11 assists, and Justin Dentmon added 31 points, 9 assists, and 4 steals. Wade Baldwin IV, in his second game with the Legends, finished at 17 points, 7 assists, and 2 blocks.

Justin Leon led the Blue off the bench with 26 points, 6 rebounds in 22 minutes, while Mike Cobbins added the team's only double-double of 16 points, 10 rebounds.
