ORLANDO - Orlando Predators wide receiver Brandon Thompkins and defensive back Varmah Sonie each earned weekly AFL awards for their performances in the team's 43-41 victory over the LA KISS this past Sunday. Thompkins received J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week honors while Sonie took home the Cutters Catch of the Week award.

Thompkins made an impact on both offense and special teams in Week 10. The sixth-year receiver racked up 208 all-purpose yards as he returned two kickoffs for scores coming from distances of greater than 50 yards while adding a four-yard touchdown reception. He now ranks first in the AFL in all-purpose yards (2,313), kickoff return yards (1,303), and kickoff returns for touchdowns (5).

Sonie earned the catch of the week for a spectacular second quarter no-look interception. With outstretched arms and his back to quarterback, Sonie managed to pick off the deep pass attempt while wrestling it away from a KISS receiver, returning the ball near midfield to allow the Predators to tie the game on the resulting possession. Sonie now leads the Arena Football League in total tackles (63.0) and interceptions (6) and ranks third in total passes defended (20).

The Predators host the Cleveland Gladiators (5-5) in Week 11 on Saturday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 407-355-2200 or online at OrlandoPredators.com.
