Arkansas Stars News Release
The Arkansas Stars and The Twin City Gators, from Monroe, Louisiana, have several similarities. Both Teams in their Inaugural Year, both with midseason management and ownership challenges, and both teams conference rivals... The Stars kept the Gators winless.
The first half was all Stars, and once again, the Stars defenders rocked their opposing offense for 60 grueling minutes! Raymond Fleming and the rest of the Stars' defensive backs were near perfect in protecting against the passing game. This allowed Mickey Beagle and Justin Scott once again to lead the attack that shut down Monroe's Offense completely in the first half, leaving them scoreless going into the locker room. The Gators were able to manage a couple of scoring drives in the second half that got them one touchdown in the third quarter and a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter.
Both Quarter Back's on the Stars' team, Josh Waggle and Forest Mazey had better games than they have had in several weeks. Wide Receiver, Darrian Chestnut, once again proved why he deserves to play professional football. Last week's Miller Lite Arkansas Star Player of the Week, backed up his accolades with striking pay dirt twice, once as a trick play allowed him to pass a touchdown into the end zone, and once on a 30 yard catch a run into the end zone taking several defenders with him.
With only one game left in the 2006 NIFL Season, the Stars excited to be able to play it at home. This Saturday, July 1st, at 7pm at The Randall Tyson Indoor Track Facility. Tickets are available at the door before the game or at any Take Two Video location through Saturday evening.
