FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Another player with international pedigree has joined the ranks of the Strikers, with the club today announcing the signing of former Brazil national youth team defender Dalton Moreira Neto. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Dalton will wear his first name and the number 2 on his jersey.

"Dalton is another player that brings high-level experience to our team," said Head Coach and General Manager Caio Zanardi. "He's played in a World Cup and with some of the biggest clubs in South America. I'm very happy with the depth and quality of our center backs."

The center back, 25, brings a vast amount of experience to the Strikers. He started his professional career in native Brazil with Fluminense, and was a member of the Internacional side that captured the prestigious Copa Libertadores trophy in 2010. Dalton's trophy cabinet also includes the Recopa Sudamericana, won in 2011-12 season with Internacional.

Dalton was an integral member of the Brazil side that finished runners-up at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt. He played 600 minutes across six matches in the tournament, including starting the final match alongside such players as Alex Teixeira and Douglas Costa. Dalton has already played with current Strikers defender Aurelio Saco Vértiz at Peruvian side Universitario.

Dalton will link up with the rest of the team on Monday, February 8, as the Strikers return to preseason training.
