Stars Sink 19 Threes to Top Legends

SALT LAKE CITY, UT- The Texas Legends rounded off a three-game road trip in Salt Lake City Wednesday night. Jermaine Taylor and Sundiata Gaines combined for 56 points as the Stars routed the Legends 129-100 to grab their first win of the season.

Jaleel Cousins got off to a hot start, pacing the Legends with 10 points in the first. Texas took a six-point lead before Salt Lake City responded with a 17-4 run. The Legends rallied in the final two minutes and the two teams went neck-and-neck into the second. Texas flipped the one point difference immediately but the Stars had an answer for every basket. As the visitors struggled from outside, the home team knocked down six threes to hold a 16-point advantage at the half.

Salt Lake City extended the gap in the third, going up by 29 before settling at a 17-point difference to face the final quarter. Patrick Miller went 5-of-6 for 13 points in the fourth, but the Stars maintained their distance. Texas' struggles from outside (38%) were matched by foul trouble (31) and turnovers (22) while the Stars finished the night with a season-high 19 threes and a 54% overall completion.

Miller led the Legends with 23 points, 3 rebounds while Manny Harris added 22 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. Jaleel Cousins (14 points, 4 rebounds) and Andre Dawkins (12 points, 3 rebounds) each went 6-of-6 from the charity stripe to round out the Legends' double-digit scoring.

Taylor totaled 30 points, 5 rebounds and Henry Sims tabbed the game's only double-double of 19 points, 12 rebounds for the Stars. Gaines added 26 points, 5 rebounds and Marcus Paige sunk a game-high five three-pointers to finish with 22.
