Spurs Slip Past Legends

FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (16-15) split the week's series with the Austin Spurs (20-11) after a 91-95 loss in Frisco Wednesday night.

Demetri McCamey led the Spurs' efforts in the first as the visitors got off to a 23-14 lead. The Legends rebounded with 62% shooting while smothering Austin to 17% to take over the second. Five straight points from Toure' Murry in the final minute would give the Legends an 8-point advantage going into the locker room.

The Legends took their largest lead of the night (+10) in the third before Austin's Keifer Sykes and Deshaun Thomas went off for 22 total points. The Spurs doubled the Legends scoring in the final eight minutes to regain control and head into the fourth with a six-point difference. The Legends pulled within one with 1:30 on the clock, but the Spurs maintained their close lead and sealed the game in the final seconds.

The Legends had six players in double-digits led by Patrick Miller with a 20-point effort off the bench. Tu Holloway followed with 15 points and a game-high 5 assists and Brandon Ashley grabbed 8 rebounds and added 11 points.

Thomas and Sykes matched Miller's high adding 20 each for the Spurs while Atlanta Hawks assignee Walter Tavares had a game-high 13 rebounds.
