Spokane Empire News Release
The Empire has signed linebacker Andrew Jackson to their 2017 IFL roster.
*Jackson* (LB, 6-1, 245, Western Kentucky) joins the Empire for his first season as a member of the IFL. Andrew most recently spent time with the Indianapolis Colts after being selected in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in 13 games during the 2014 season as he recorded ten tackles and one sack.
During his collegiate career at Western Kentucky, Jackson was dominated at the linebacker position and led the Hilltoppers in tackles during his sophomore (122) and junior (109) seasons. As a senior, Andrew was second on the team with 92. He earned back-to-back First-Team All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a sophomore and junior. He also helped WKU to their first-ever bowl FBS bowl appearance during his junior season.
"Andrew Jackson is a game changer at the linebacker position and causes havoc in the backfield of the opposing offense. His numbers in college back that up," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "He is working hard to get back to the NFL, and we believe that we can be that avenue for him."
Andrew played his prep career at Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida. He is also the cousin of Empire defensive back Tyree Robinson.
