Receivers Make History

June 16, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release

For the first time in franchise history three Dragons receivers have recorded 100 receptions and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season. Kevin Swayne, Chris Anthony, and Jason Willis have each had remarkable seasons that have helped them accomplish the historical milestone.

Kevin Swayne's ten receptions in the game against Dallas in Week 16 was the last addition needed in order to accomplish the historic milestone. This is the second time in Swayne's career that he has reached the milestone with the first coming in the 2001 season where he had 131 receptions for 1,890 yards.

The receiving trio is only the second in AFL history to accomplish the milestone with the first also coming this season by the Utah Blaze. For Anthony and Willis it is the first time in both of their careers that they have recorded 100 receptions or 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.

Jason Willis will look to make franchise history again this week against Philadelphia as he needs only four receptions to surpass the franchise individual record for receptions in a single season which is currently held by Kevin Swayne with 131.

The Dragons will be hosting their regular season finale on Sunday, June 22nd at 3 pm against the Philadelphia Soul. The game is also scheduled as Fan Appreciation Day with the first 5,000 fans receiving a free team photo.
