CINCINNATI- The Cincinnati Commandos professional indoor football team is pleased to announce that its Director of Media Relations, J. Ameer Rasheed, will don the pads for charity.

Rasheed, who played at Hughes Center and Wilmington College, will raise money for the Avondale Youth Council. Fans can donate money based on his stats, i.e. number of tackles or number of plays, or they can donate a lump sum for the cause.

Donations can be sent to the Cincinnati Gardens, c/o Greg Waddell, 2250 Seymour Avenue, Cincinnati, OH. Checks can be made out to the Avondale Youth Council.

"I grew up in the inner city and I would like to think that this is a way of giving back," said Rasheed. "My grandfather was very active in the Avondale community, from being the president of the Avondale Community Council to his karate gym - and it would be my pleasure to continue on my family legacy in the neighborhood.

"(AYC President) Ozie Davis has done a fantastic job in Avondale and I have the utmost respect for the work he is doing," continued Rasheed.

Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the historic Cincinnati Gardens as the Commandos (6-0) will face the Rome Rampage.

The Cincinnati Commandos are the longest-tenured professional indoor football team in the city of Cincinnati. All seven home games are played at the historic Cincinnati Gardens.
