Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Tennessee Valley Raptors found out their United Indoor Football playoff fate Saturday night when Peoria posted a 49-31 victory over Ohio Valley in Wheeling, W. Va.

That result gave the Raptors (6-9) the eighth and final playoff seed and sends coach Dick Adams' squad to No. 1 seed Fort Wayne (13-2) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday night at Memorial Coliseum.

Tennessee Valley, which finished third in the South Division, won three of five games to earn the postseason berth prior to falling 36-18 to the Omaha Beef in its regular season finale July 16 at the Von Braun Center. Fort Wayne finished as champion of the Midwest Division.

After a week off, Adams squad returned to practice Sunday night at the VBC and began to prepare for the postseason.

"We got a little rest in, but we still have some injury issues to deal with,'' said Adams, whose squad finished 1-6 on the road. "But we're in good shape and ready to get back to work. I think it says a lot that this team battled to make the playoffs. With the changes we've made as of late, we're a pretty new team and I feel very confident with this group. I think we'll make a good run."
