Billings Outlaws News Release
The Billings Outlaws could not have been more pleased with the outcome of Sunday's first-round IFL playoff game -- not just on the field, but off the field as well -- as they defeated the Tri-Cities Fever, 54-45.
"I had tons of fans tell me how happy they were that we worked so hard to keep the game in Billings and they loved the new "Outlaws Experience," said Hayley Heser, head of tickets sales. "I think people were surprised with how cool we were able to keep the building as well."
The "new Outlaw experience" Heser is referring to is the NFL-style tailgate party going on before, during and after the Outlaws playoff games at the Billings SportsPlex, located at 5000 Southgate Drive.
The Outlaws have been forced to host their home playoff games at their five-million dollar practice facility after last Sunday's tornado left MetraPark Arena unusable.
Along with the 800 fans inside the arena last Sunday, there were about half dozen fans tuning into the game outside in the SportsPlex parking lot while enjoying cold beverages, ice cream and food
"The atmosphere is incredible," one fan told an Outlaw staff member during the third-quarter of Sunday's win. "It feels like a real NFL-type atmosphere having all this stuff going on outside and the game taking place right over there."
Beer gardens, food vendors and hospitality tents were set up outside allowing fans to stretch their legs and enjoy the "New Outlaw Experience."
The same setup will be in place for Saturday's game, and Outlaw officials are hoping an additional 500-600 seats will be in place in the SportsPlex's south end zone.
"Party at the 'Plex: Round 2" will get underway Saturday morning at noon and continue throughout the afternoon when the Outlaws host the San Angelo Stampede Express.
Admission to "Party at the 'Plex: Round 2" is either your game ticket or $5 if you chose to remain outside in the tailgate area during the game and watch the action on one of three big-screens in the hospitality tents.
The V.I.P. seating is sold out for the second-round game, but open seating ($28) and standing room only ($15) are still available by going online, to www.billingsoutlaws.com . Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Billings Outlaws office between 9-5 Wednesday-Friday or call 839-9080, ext. 201.
Heser encourages fans to be their tickets in advance.
"It's a lot more of a challenge to sell 400 walk up tickets here than it is at the Metra," she added. "We just don't have the capabilities here that they did at the box office."
Billings will host the Intense Conference Semifinals Saturday, July 3rd at the SportsPlex. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
