SAINT JOHN - Nathan Noel buried a hat trick and Alex D'Orio turned aside 24 shots to lead the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 4-2 victory over the Quebec Remparts Friday at Harbour Station.

Mathieu Joseph also tallied for Saint John (16-6-2-1) while Spencer Smallman and Thomas Chabot added two assists each. The Sea Dogs have won two straight games and have points in their last seven contests.

Derek Gentile and Matthew Boucher responded for Quebec (14-10-1-1), which had its two-game win streak snapped.

A scoring summary is available HERE [http://theqmjhl.ca/gamecentre/25322/boxscore].

The Remparts thought they had opened the scoring eight minutes into the game when Olivier Garneau potted the rebound of a 2-on-1 chance, but the referee had blown the whistle because he lost sight of the puck.

Instead, Noel scored first with five-and-a-half minutes left in the opening period.

Smallman carried the puck into the left circle and dropped a pass for Noel. The 19-year-old whistled a heavy wrist shot past the glove of Quebec goalie Evgeny Kiselev.

The Sea Dogs made it 2-0 four minutes later.

Chabot danced into the slot and had his shot attempt blocked. Joseph corralled the puck, took a stride to his left and launched a wrist shot beyond Kiselev's blocker.

The game stayed 2-0 into the third period, thanks a 19-save second frame by Kiselev.

Gentile cut his team's deficit in half more than seven minutes into the third, slipping past a Saint John backchecker and into the slot before rifling a wrister past D'Orio's glove.

But Noel countered just over a minute later.

Luke Green fed a pass from the right point into the middle of the slot for Smallman, who propelled a blind backhander to Noel in the bottom of the left circle. The 2016 fourth-rounder of the Chicago Blackhawks hammered a one-timer past the outstretched blocker of Kiselev.

Boucher made it a one goal game again with a power play marker with more than five minutes remaining.

The Quebec captain - and son of Remparts' head coach Philippe Boucher - chipped the rebound of a point shot past D'Orio to make it a 3-2 game.

Kiselev went to the bench for an extra skater with under two minutes to go.

Noel completed his hat trick into an empty net with 1:27 left. The fourth-year centre has five goals and six points in his last two games.

D'Orio earned the win with his 24 stops. Kiselev took the loss with 34 saves. He was named third star.

Noel and Smallman were honoured with first and second star, respectively, in front of 4,114 fans in attendance.
