BRADENTON, Fla. - Shean Michel came into Wednesday night's contest against the Bradenton Marauders hitless in his six previous at-bats, but came up with the two biggest hits of the game in the Florida Fire Frogs' 3-2, come-from-behind victory at LECOM Park.
Michel (2x4, 2B, 2 RBI) dug into the right-handed batter's box in the seventh inning 0-for-2 on the night, but snapped the skid with a double to the gap in left-center field. Jordan Rodgers (1x4, R) hustled all the way home from first to knot the game at two.
The inning started with Florida (23-32) in a 2-0 deficit, but Ray-Patrick Didder's (2x4, R, HR, RBI) solo shot over the wall in left brought the visitors within a run, leading to Rodger's single and Michel's run-scoring hit.
Troy Bacon and Thomas Burrows (3-2) kept Bradenton (30-24) at two runs with four scoreless innings out of relief of Tucker Davidson, who allowed bot runs on six hits a walk and two strikeouts through five frames. The two relievers worked two innings, each, with both members of the tandem giving up just one hit.
Michel was at it again in the final frame, this time using a two-out single to push across the go-ahead run.
Braxton Davidson (1x3, 2B, BB) roped a lead-off double to the wall in right-center and was lifted for Marcus Mooney. After Didder and Rodgers were set down by Ronny Agustin (0-3), Michel floated a single to right field, plating the runner from second to take the late, 3-2 lead.
Burrows retired the first two men in the bottom half of the inning before allowing an infield hit to Hunter Owen. The product of Alabama punched out Jesse Medrano to snap the Fire Frogs' five-game losing streak.
The Marauder's took the early, two-run advantage with solo runs in the four and fifth innings. Jung Ho Kang sent a towering drive off the protective netting in left field against Davidson to open up the scoring in the fourth. Alfredo Reyes' RBI single in the fifth brought home Casey Hughston for the insurance run in the fifth.
The Fire Frogs go for the series split in the finale of the four-game set at LECOM Park on Thursday night. RHP Ian Anderson (0-3, 3.68) seeks out his first win of 2018 for Florida against Bradenton's RHP James Marvel (5-3, 4.43). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with coverage beginning at 6:15 p.m. with the Florida Fire Frogs Pregame Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.
