The Marion Mayhem is pleased to announce the signing of Damian Birch.
Damian's home town was Fairmont, WV but now resides in Grove City, OH. He played only one year of high school football and was not recruited to play college ball. He decided to be a walk on at Fairmont State University to play for the football team, as well as the basketball team. He made the Fairmont State Football Team and played Defensive End. He was strongest man on the team from his Sophmore year to his Senior year.
In his sophmore year he started all 10 games, had 47 tackles, 3 sacks and 7 hurries. In his Junior year he started 9 games and led the defensive line with tackles (67), 24 solo, 51/2 sacks and 17 hurries. He was named First Team All Conference WVIC. His Senior year he started all 10 games, 62 tackles, 4 sacks, 17 hurries, 21 solo tackles, 7 tackles for a loss. Named Pre-Season All American Nominee. Was First Team All Conference WVIC, Honorable Mention All Region and 2 time small school All American. He represented the East in the WhatABurger Cactus Bowl/ 2 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, and 1 pass deflection. He is considered one of the Top 3 players to ever play at Fairmont State University.
He was at the Buffalo Bills free agent camp in June 2004. He played for the Chicago Rush in 2004-2005. He has played with Peoria Roughriders - 7 1/2 sacks. He has even played with Pittsburgh Riverrats.
