Darnerien McCants to Sing National Anthem at Maniacs Cole Field House Debut

The Maniacs are proud to announce that former Washington Redskins wide receiver Darnerien McCants will sing the national anthem prior to the home opener at Cole Field House against the Green Bay Blizzard on Saturday, April 3rd.Darnerien McCants

McCants, known by many people in the area for his time with the Redskins (2001-2005), was drafted by Washington in the 5th round of the 2001 NFL Draft out of Delaware State, where he caught an impressive 18 touchdown passes as a senior.

He got his first real shot as a pro in 2002 but had his first real breakout season in 2003, where he caught 27 passes for 362 yards and tied fellow receiver Laveranues Coles for the team lead with six touchdown receptions. Darnerien played his last NFL regular season with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005 and had a brief stint with the Baltimore Ravens in 2008 but was cut before the regular season.

For the last few years, Darnerien has pursued one of his biggest passions, music, and recently released his latest album "A Piece of Me," which can be found on iTunes (keyword: Darnerien).
