OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - The Texas Legends dropped a heart breaker in Oklahoma City Tuesday night as they fell 116-117 in the final seconds.
Texas got off to a hot start with a 12-0 run in the first four minutes. Mustapha Farrakhan, Dakari Johnson and Tomislav Zubcic added six points apiece but the Tu Holloway's 10 would maintain the Legends' 12-point advantage going into the second.
Texas extended the lead to the largest of the night to start the second. Down by 15, OKC's Dez Wells began to chip away, initiating a nine-point run for the Blue. The tempo change was just was the home team needed as they took their first lead of the night with minutes left before halftime. Holloway responded immediately but the Legends' lead was held to five at the break.
Micheal Eric set the tone with a slam right out of the locker room followed by a long ball from Toure' Murry, but Talib Zanna and Wells answered with back-to-back threes of their own to put OKC within two. Halfway through the third, the Blue took back the lead, but the Legends would use the final four minutes to build back up to a 94-86 advantage heading into the final quarter.
With 9:46 to play, the visiting team was back up by 12. OKC went on another 9-0 run and cut the gap to one point at the halfway mark. The two teams exchanged baskets for the remaining minutes and found themselves in a tie with 10.8 seconds to play. The Blue cashed in from the free throw line and the Legends missed two final opportunities to seal OKC's first victory of the season against Texas.
Holloway led the Legends with 24 points while Jamil Wilson added 19 off the bench, shooting a perfect 4-4 from outside. Eric went 8-of-10 for 16 points and a game-high 9 boards and Murry added 15 points with a game-high 9 assists. The Legends outrebounded the Blue 40-34 and matched their 23 assists, but OKC found their edge shooting 51% to Texas' 48%.
The Blue had seven players in double-digits led by Zanna with 19 points, 8 rebounds and Marquis Teague with 18 points, 8 assists.
