Knicks Guards Combine for 68 Points in Win over Austin Spurs

December 18, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Westchester Knicks (8-4), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, split its southwest road trip with a 120-106 win over the Austin Spurs (5-9), the San Antonio Spurs' affiliate. Knicks guards Chasson Randle and Jordon Crawford combined for 68 points in the win.

Chasson Randle finished with game-high 36 points, just two shy of his record-setting 38 from two days ago. He connected on 7-of-9 attempts from beyond the arc to go with five assists, four rebounds, and a steal. Just behind him in scoring was Jordon Crawford, whose 32 points off 13-for-18 shooting marked a new career-high for the guard. Keith Wright notched his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Von Wafer supplied 12 points, three rebounds, and two blocks from the bench.

Bryn Forbes paced the Spurs with 23 points, while Cory Jefferson scored a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Charles Garcia provided 21 points off the bench, with four rebounds and two assists. Jarrell Eddie was the remaining double- digit scorer; he finished with 12 points.

The Knicks used an 8-2 run to tip-off the game, not once giving the Spurs an opportunity to lead. Austin struggled early, with its first field goal coming three and a half minutes into the quarter, the home team hitting just 25 percent in the first.

Westchester guard Jordon Crawford blasted through the first twelve minutes, in nine of which he provided 16 of the Knicks' 35 first quarter points. He would go on to finish the half with 23 points, including a three-pointer at the buzzer to give his team a 14-point advantage after two.

Adding fuel to the fire, the Knicks took off on a 14-4 run to start the second half, widening the gap to 24 points. Unfortunately for the Spurs, that gap would only widen as Crawford continued to stay hot and Chasson Randle, coming off a season-high 38 points in the previous game, unleashed 14 points in the third quarter to put the Knicks up by as many as 31 points. While Westchester saw its first under-30-point quarter in the fourth, it was far too late for Austin to make any kind of major comeback as the Spurs ultimately fell 120-106.

The Westchester Knicks return home to the Westchester County Center on Tuesday, Dec. 20 for a 7:00 p.m. ET matchup against the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Los Angeles Lakers' affiliate.
