Gladiators Announce 2017 Regular Season

CLEVELAND - The Arena Football League's Cleveland Gladiators announced the team's 2017 schedule this afternoon, which will commence with the first of seven home games at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday, April 8th at 7:00 pm, when the Gladiators host the Tampa Bay Storm in the first meeting of the two teams' four-game season series. The 2017 season will be the Gladiators' ninth in Cleveland and the 30th season for the AFL. Cleveland will play four of their first five games at home as the expansion Baltimore franchise and the Washington Valor visit The Q for the first time on April 15th and April 28th, respectively. The Gladiators will additionally host their rivals, the Philadelphia Soul, on May 5th before embarking on a season-long four-game road trip that from May 20th-June 10th and includes trips to Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, and then Philadelphia once more. The Gladiators will then return home for the final three home games of the regular season when the team will clash with Baltimore on June 16th and Philadelphia on June 24th, followed by a date with Tampa Bay on July 8th before hitting the road for the final two games of the season against the Storm on July 22nd

and Washington on July 29th. This year's version of the AFL Schedule will feature 14 regular season games with AFL postseason dates and format to be announced in the near future.

In 2016, the Gladiators finished in the top-two in AFL attendance averaging over 11,000 fans per game.

Cleveland advanced to the National Conference Championship before falling to Arizona. Two years ago in 2014, the Gladiators posted an AFL-record 17-1 regular season mark, earning six wins on the last play of the game and recorded two playoff victories, including capturing the American Conference Championship crown at The Q.
