Series Notes: Wednesday's matchup between the Rio Grande Valley Vipers (15-8) and the Sioux Falls Skyforce (16-5) marks the first of four meetings between the divisional opponents this season. The Vipers are coming off of a win over the Santa Cruz Warriors in which they scored a season-high 155 points as Christ Johnson (23 points), Kyle Wiltjer (26 points), Gary Payton II (28 points), and Darius Morris (29 points) all scored over 20 points. Joshua Smith, JP Tokoto, and PJ Hairston each scored in double figures as well. Meanwhile, Sioux Falls is coming off of their 10th straight home win to start the season, and their 20th straight home win dating back to February 19, 2016. Keith Benson has been one of the most consistent players both on the team and in the league this season, averaging 19.9 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per contest. He's recorded 14 double-doubles on the season, and has scored at least 25 points in his last four contests. His teammate, Briante Weber, continues to stuff the stat sheet each game. Weber averages 14.1 points, 7.6 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 3.2 steals per game on the season. He's recorded at least one steal in every game this season and has tallied six steals in each of his last two games. Head Coach Nevada Smith will return to Rio Grande Valley for the first time since coaching there from 2013 to 2015. He compiled a record of 57-43 during his two seasons with the team. The Vipers are 10-1 at home this season, while the Skyforce will look to improve on their 6-5 road record. Sioux Falls continues to lead the Southwestern Division, but the surging Vipers aren't far behind, as they're tied with the Oklahoma City Blue for second place, just 2.0 games back.
