Fort Wayne Freedom News Release
The Fort Wayne Freedom (14-2) will welcome the Tennessee Valley Raptors (6-9) to the Coliseum on Friday night for the first round of the UIF playoffs. Fort Wayne holds the #1 seed and Tennessee Valley holds the #8 seed. Both teams are coming off a bye week headed into this week's game. This is the first ever meeting between these two teams.
The Freedom is the Midwest Division Champions. Their only two losses on the season were back in June when they visited the Omaha Beef with a final score of 33-30 and at home against the Lexington Horsemen 58-41. The Freedom rebounded from the two losses and went 4-0 to finish the season strong. The Freedom have received home field playoff advantage throughout at the Coliseum where they are 20-3 overall.
The Raptors finished the season in third place in the South Division. This season they were 1-6 on the road. Tennessee Valley started the season slow, but also finished the second half of the season strong clinching their playoff spot back on July 10 when they beat the Tupelo Fireants 33-12. Head Coach Dick Adams leads the Raptors.
The Freedom and the Raptors faced several common opponents this season: Sioux City Bandits, Tupelo Fireants, Ohio Valley Greyhounds, Peoria Roughriders, Lexington Horsemen, Omaha Beef and Sioux Falls Storm. Five of the seven teams are in the playoffs. The Freedom went 11-2 against these teams and Raptors went 5-6.
Kickoff for Friday's game is set for 7:30PM. Playoff tickets prices range from $5.50-$32.50 and are available at the Coliseum Ticket Office or through Ticketmaster.
