Mahoning Valley Thunder News Release
BOARDMAN, OH. - The Mahoning Valley Thunder, in conjunction with the arenafootball2 League Office is pleased to announce that Wide Receiver C.J. Brewer, (6'3, 215), has been assigned to the Thunder. To make room on the roster, Defensive Back Montae Bailey was placed on Re-Assignment. Brewer is in his second season in the af2 and first with the Thunder.
Brewer spent both the 2006 and 2007 seasons with the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. Prior to signing with San Francisco, Brewer began his professional career by playing for the af2's Albany Conquest, now known as the Albany Firebirds. Brewer played in three games for Albany during the 2006 season, totaling 15 receptions for 227 yards and three touchdowns. His performance led to a free-agent contract with the 49ers.
The Colorado native began his college career at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. where he was named NCAA Division II All-American. Enrolled at Ventura (CA) Community College in 2004 and was once again named an All-American. Spent his final collegiate season at Wyoming where he played in all 11 games for the Cowboys and scored one touchdown.
THUNDER HEAD COACH MIKE HOLD SAYS:
"C.J. has terrific size. He's a big target especially in the red zone. He plays an extremely physical style which you don't see as often with receivers in arena. Defensive backs are going to have to account for him on every play. Once he gets acclimated to the playbook we think C.J. will be a real difference maker for us. "
The Mahoning Valley Thunder's third season is right around the corner. Opening night is Friday March 27th! Don't miss your chance to feel all the hard-hitting, fast paced action of arena football! Individual game tickets are on sale now and start at just $12! For more information call the Thunder Offices at 330.758.4af2 (4232).
