TODAY'S GAME: Game two of a three-game series against the Clearwater Threshers (PHI) from Spectrum Field (1-0)...Game five of a six-game road trip against the Dunedin Blue Jays and the Threshers (2-2)...Florida is coming off a 1-2 series loss to the Blue Jays at Dunedin Stadium...Fourth and final series (12 games) against the Philadelphia Phillies' affiliate, with seven coming at Spectrum Field (2-3)...The Atlanta Braves' dropped three of four against Clearwater on the road from June 1-3...The series in Clearwater wraps up a stretch of 23 games in 21 days for the Fire Frogs.
TODAY'S STARTING PITCHER: 20-year-old Kyle Muller makes his 13th start at the High-A level (19th in 2018) in the middle match of the three-game series against the Clearwater Threshers on Friday night...The southpaw made six starts with the Rome Braves, going 3-0 with a 2.40 ERA across 30 innings of work (8er)...The Dallas native did not factor into the decision of a 5-3 loss to the Threshers on July 15...The soutpaw allowed three runs on five hits, two walks and seven strikeouts across six innings of work in the quality start...Friday will be Muller's third start against Clearwater...The Jesuit Colleg Prep product does not have a record against the Philadelphia Phillies' affiliate in two starts...Through 11.2 innings, the lefty has allowed five runs on 10 knocks, four free passes and 13 punchouts...The 6-foot-7 hurler did not factor into the decision against the Threshers in a 7-6, extra-inning loss at Spectrum Field on June 3...Muller allowed two runs on five hits, two walks and six strikeouts through 5.2 innings.
JAMES POWERS OFFENSE IN SERIES OPENER AGAINST CLEARWATER: Jared James drove home three runs and scored twice, as the Florida Fire Frogs opened up a three-game series against the Clearwater Threshers with a 7-5 victory at Spectrum Field on Thursday night. The Sacramento native has collect five RBI over the last two games.
Four Fire Frogs' batters collected multi-hit night, including Jordan Rodgers, who picked up two doubles.
BECOMING THE KING: With three more RBI in the series opener, Jared James has 12 RBI through 17 games in July...The 24-year-old is hitting .283 through the fourth month of the season, with a .342 mark over his last 10 games...The outfielder has raised his average 30 points from .217 from .247 during his five-game hitting streak from July 14-19, going 11-for-20 with eight runs scored and nine RBI.
BURROWS BOSSING JULY: Thomas Burrows tossed two more scoreless innings on Thursday, lowing his ERA during the month to 0.73 through six appearances...Over 12.1 innings, the product of Alabama has allowed just two runs - one earned - on six hits, five walks and 16 strikeouts.
VOLUNTEERING FOR HITS: With two more hits on Thursday night, Jordan Rodgers is now hitting .385 over his last seven games...The product of Tennessee has 10 hits and four RBI.
ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END: With a run allowed with two outs in the first inning, Joey Wentz's scoreless-inning streak came to a hault at 32 innings...The Atlanta Braves' ninth-ranked prospect (MLB.com) had not allowed a run since the first batter he faced against the Bradenton Marauders on June 13 at Osceola County Stadium.
