Tulsa, OK The Oklahoma Defenders, Tulsa's indoor professional football team, beat the Kansas Koyotes 62-40 in Topeka, Kansas tonight. The Defenders had a successful offensive attack with Quarterback Rico Watkins completing 11-21 for 159 yards, two running and two passing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Wide Receiver Juan Redmon had 7 catches for 87 yards and one touchdown. Running back KingJack Washington rushed for 118 yards (average 6.1 yd/carry) and one touchdown.
The Defenders' defensive back Gabe Ramos had a night of threes with three solo tackles, three assisted tackles, and three pass breakups. Defensive lineman Gus Jones also added six tackles. The defensive line was a strong force with linemen Gus Jones, Victor Clore, and K'iounta Cathey each with one sack. Defenseive back Ronnie Neal had three tackles with two pass breakups and one interception with a 13-yard return.
The Defenders, now 1-1 in the Champions Professional Football League, have a bye week March 23rd, then return to action Saturday March 30th at 7:05pm at Kemper Arena in Kansas City to take on the Kansas City Renegades.
