Grand Rapids Drive News Release
TORONTO- The Grand Rapids Drive (8-7) turned in a fantastic shooting performance on Tuesday morning at the Air Canada Centre, defeating the Raptors 905 (10-3) by a 114-87 final. It was the Drive's fourth win in a row.
The game was played in front of 15,011 fans, new NBA Development League record.
Jordan Crawford was incredible for the Drive, scoring 40 points in just 26 minutes off the bench. The 40 points were a new season high for a Grand Rapids player. Crawford also broke the Drive's franchise record for three-pointers in a game, going 9-of-14 from deep. The previous record was six, held by six different players, including Crawford.
The Drive also broke their own franchise record for three-pointers, which they had tied in their previous game on Saturday against Oklahoma City. They went 24-of-48 from three, taking over half their attempts from outside the line. Kevin Murphy also hit five threes and Ray McCallum four.
Murphy finished with 26 points and six rebounds and McCallum had 16 with six assists.
The 905 had 12 players score and five players in double digits. Fred VanVleet had 13 points and five rebounds and Yanick Moreira nearly had a double-double in only 19 minutes with nine points and nine rebounds.
It was a close game through one quarter, as the 905 were up 26-24, but the Drive poured in 37 in the second quarter (a new season high) and held the 905 to 18 to blow the game open. They also had scoring advantages in the third and fourth quarters. Crawford scored 15 in the second quarter and 13 in the third quarter, and Murphy had 14 in the first quarter.
The Raptors will look to bounce back hosting Westchester on Dec. 22, while the Drive will look for their fifth straight win at Long Island (1:30 pm game-time) the same day before returning home on Dec. 23 to host the Maine Red Claws for a 7 pm tip.
