Dallas Vigilantes News Release
DALLAS, TX- While their record may not show it, the Dallas Vigilantes (5-2) know just how dangerous the Iowa Barnstormers (2-5) can be, as the two Central Division rivals will square off for a 7:30 p.m. showdown Saturday at the American Airlines Center.
Iowa comes into Saturday night's match-up losing three of its five losses by just one point, so it is no surprise that head coach Clint Dolezel and his squad will not take the Barnstormers for granted.
"Iowa ranks up there with some of the best teams we've played so far," Dolezel said. "They're record definitely does not indicate how good they are." To me, they have one of the best receiving packages in the league, so it is definitely going to be a tough stop for us. They can put up a lot of points on you from the air."
And speaking of receiver play, Vigilante veteran wide receiver DeAndrew Rubin had a break-out game in Dallas' win over the Kansas City Command last week, recording seven receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Rubin will look to carry his momentum into the AAC on Saturday night.
"They have some very athletic guys in their secondary," Rubin said. "They mix-up a lot of man and zone coverages, so we will really have to be on our toes out there. But we have a good group of veteran receivers on our side of the ball who know how to read what the secondary is doing and adjust. I think this is going to be a great match-up."
When the clock strikes 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, the Vigilantes will look to do everything they can to win their fourth-straight game, as well as stay undefeated at home (3-0), while Iowa will look to snap its current four-game losing streak. Something's definitely going to give Saturday, but if Dallas continues to play the way it has been in its past three games, it won't be anything on the Vigilante side of things.
