Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings News Release
Bossier City, La - The Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings defeated the Amarillo Dusters 62-27 in front of 2,422 fans at the CenturyTel Center Saturday night to move their record to 8-5 on the season. The BattleWings jumped out to a 7-0 lead as QB Andrico Hines hooked up with WR P.J. Berry on a 14 yard scoring strike with 9:17 remaining in=2 0the 1st quarter. The Dusters answered right back with a 1 yard touchdown run from QB Julian Reese, but K Sinisha Vrvilio missed the extra point attempt to make a 7-6 game. The BattleWings fared better in the 2nd quarter as they outscored the Dusters 20-7 behind touchdown runs from P.J. Berry and Jason Schule. P.J. Berry ended the first half with a 57 yard kickoff return for a touchdown to give the Wings' a 27-13 lead going into the locker room.
The BattleWings owned the 3rd quarter outscoring the Dusters 28-0, continuing a 35-0 run that started in the 1st half. P.J. Berry started the 3rd quarter dominance with a 4 yard touchdown run to make it a 34-13 game. Wings' DL Dannie Snyder picked up a Carlos Downey fumble and ran it in from 5 yards out to extend the BattleWings lead to 41-13. Four minutes later, FB Jason Schule added his 2nd rushing touchdown of the night (and league leading 20th of the season) to give the Wings' a 48-13 lead. DB Pierre Lee ended the 35-0 run with a 49 yard interception return for a touchdown to push the BattleWings' lead to 55-13 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
The Dusters scored two cosmetic touchdowns (7 yard pass to WR DeVaughn Flagler and a 5 yard touchdown pass to John King) in the 4th quarter, but it was too little, too late as the BattleWings had dominated the previous 3 quarters.
The BattleWings will hit the road the next two weeks to take on the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz on July 11th and the Corpus Christi Sharks on July 18th before returning home to take on the Arkansas Twisters in the regular season finale.
