SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The Schaumburg Boomers have signed 1B Kewby Meyer, OF Clint Hardy, and RHP Ivan Vieitez to contracts for the 2018 season.
Meyer, 24, joins the Boomers after spending the 2017 season in the American Association playing 83 games with the Salina Stockade and 4 games with the Cleburne Railroaders where he batted .278 with 3 home runs and 17 doubles.
Meyer was drafted in the 37th round of the 2015 draft by the Tampa Bay Rays and spent the 2015 and 2016 seasons in the Rays organization.
Hardy, 22, comes to the Boomers after playing briefly in the Frontier League in 2017 with the Traverse City Beach Bums. Hardy played collegiately at Augusta University where he finished with a .372 career batting average, 4th all time for the Jaguars.
Vieitez, 24, comes to Schaumburg after starting the 2017 season in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization where he was a 27th round draft pick in 2015. Vieitez also played in the American Association last season, appearing in seven games out of the bullpen for the St. Paul Saints.
The Boomers 2018 season, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, begins May 11. The Home Opener is Tuesday, May 15 vs. Southern Illinois.
