Greensboro Prowlers News Release

Greensboro -- The league office of arenafootball2 (af2) has announced that Greensboro Prowlers wide receiver/defensive back Bobby Sippio has been named the league's "Ironman of the Week." Sippio becomes the first Prowler player to ever receive the weekly Ironman award in the franchise's four-year history.

Sippio, 24, was a force on both sides of the ball in the Prowlers 47-44 triumph over the Mohegan Wolves last Saturday night. Sippio snared four catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns on offense, including a 47-yard score on the first play from scrimmage. But Sippio's biggest play of the game came as a defensive back. Just two plays after he caught a 37-yard touchdown, the 6'2", 215-pound Western Kentucky graduate picked off Ryan Tracey and scampered 22-yards for his third touchdown of the game. Sippio also chipped in 2.5 tackles for the game, as the Prowlers improved to 3-1 and moved into sole possession of first place for the first time ever.

"Bobby played a fantastic game last week," stated Prowlers head coach Steven Jerry. "He deserves to be recognized for his performance. If he continues to make impact plays on both sides of the ball, he may not be in the af2 for too much longer."

Sippio and the rest of the Prowlers will look to maintain their hold of first place this Friday night at 7:30 when they host the Richmond Speed. The game will be the final home game for the Prowlers for four weeks.
