"These two players will be great additions to our team," says Bees General Manager Brad Smith. "Tony is an experienced big leaguer that will give us stability up the middle in our infield, while Alex is a talented, young pitcher that can act in many roles in our bullpen."

Tony Abreu joins the Bees for his second season in the Atlantic League and 12th of professional baseball. Last year the former Major Leaguer spent time with the Bridgeport Bluefish, appearing in 96 games and posting a .315 batting average with 26 extra-base hits, 47 RBI, and 46 runs scored.

He spent six seasons with the Dodgers organization, making his MLB debut during the 2007 season. The 33-year-old has played six seasons in the big leagues, appearing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Kansas City Royals, and San Francisco Giants. Over the course of 1,018 minor league games, Tony has comprised a .309 batting average with 64 home runs, 527 RBI, 578 runs scored, and 87 stolen bases.

Alex Gouin joins the Bees for his fourth season of professional baseball and second in the Atlantic League, after being acquired from the Somerset Patriots in a trade. Last year with the Patriots, the righthander appeared in 24 games and posted a 3-1 record with a 4.95 ERA and 28 strikeouts over the course of 36.1 innings pitched.

After a successful collegiate career at the University of Hartford, the 26-year-old made his professional debut in 2015 with the Rockland Boulders of the independent Cam-Am League. The following season, he had his contract purchased by the Arizona Diamondbacks organization and split time between Rookie-level Missoula and Single-A Hillsboro.
