All-SIFL Lineman Returns to Wildcatters

Lafayette Wildcatters News Release

LAKE CHARLES, LA (January 27, 2010) - Despite being previously reported as being signed by the Louisiana Swashbucklers, defensive lineman/fullback Rudy Johnson has in fact re-signed with the Lafayette Wildcatters.

Rudy Johnson (6'2 250, SE Louisiana) returns to the Wildcatters after earning All-SIFL honors for the club. In 2009, Rudy finished with 17 tackles (15 solo) with five tackles for a loss as well as adding two rushing touchdowns.

Feeding fuel to a rivalry that grows each day, it was previously reported that Johnson had signed with his former club the Louisiana Swashbucklers. A conflict in negotiations forced a premature press release saying that Johnson had signed with the Bucs.

Before last season, Rudy spent the previous three seasons with the Bucs anchoring a defensive line that helped capture two championship titles. With the Black and Purple Gang, Rudy collected 52 tackles (41 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks. Offensively, Johnson also amassed 11 rushing touchdowns serving as the short-yardage back.

Johnson will indeed suit up for the Wildcatters making his season debut on Sunday March 31st, as the Lafayette Wildcatters will travel to take on the Greenville Force. For more information, be sure to visit www.lafayettewildcatters.com or call the team front office at 337-704-2897.
