Erie BayHawks News Release
ERIE, PA - The Erie BayHawks fell 103-93 to the Delaware 87ers tonight at the Erie Insurance Arena.
The BayHawks started Friday night's home opener with a quick 7-2 run. The 87ers started cold but turned it around after three-point shot by David Laury with 4:49 remaining in the first quarter. The BayHawks did not lead again from there. Erie went cold in the second quarter and were only able to put up 17 points as a team. The BayHawks played evenly with the 87ers the remainder of the game but we're unable to overcome the second quarter hole they dug.
Returner Keith Appling led the BayHawks with 18 points on eight-of-nine shooting from the field. The BayHawks got within seven points after Appling knocked down two free throws with 25 seconds left in the half. Derrick Caracter had a strong performance off the bench 14 points and a dominant presence in the paint. Myck Kabongo had several no-look feeds that resulted in 13 points and four assists.
Sean Kilpatrick paced the 87ers with 30 points. Jordan McRae continued his hot streak to start the season by notching 23 points. John Bohannon and James Siakam each led the 87ers in rebounding - each pulled down nine.
Look for the BayHawks to rebound tomorrow, Saturday, November 21st over the Sioux Falls Skyforce at home, with tip scheduled for 7pm. Find tickets at ErieBayHawks.com to celebrate Hunger Games Night.
