Santa Cruz Warriors Announce Inaugural 'Taste of the Warriors' Food, Wine & Family Entertainment Eve

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors today announced the first-ever Santa Cruz-based "Taste of the Warriors," a family-friendly benefit for Santa Cruz City Schools on October 10 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Arena in downtown Santa Cruz.

The event will highlight local artisan food purveyors and restaurant operators such as Santa Cruz City Schools alumna Michele Costa of Back Nine Grill and Bar, alumnus Adam Hoffman of Hoffman's Bistro & Patisserie, and alumna Marci Prolo of Goose's Goodies. Nineteen vintners from the Santa Cruz Mountain Winegrowers Association will pour wine. Flowers will be provided by alumna Wendy Melrose of Lina Floral. A Kid Zone will be outfitted with a jump house, basketball hoops, face painting, kid-friendly food and more.

Mirroring the annual Golden State Warriors' Taste of the Warriors event, guests will have opportunities to be photographed with the 2015 NBA Championship Trophy and the NBA D-League Championship Trophy won by the Golden State Warriors and Santa Cruz Warriors, respectively. Guests can also enter a raffle to win autographed items from the Santa Cruz Warriors including jerseys signed by MVPs Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Mav'Riks, the Warriors mascot, will be circulating throughout the event.

The cost is $50 per ticket in advance or $70 at the door; $10 for attendees under 21.

Event proceeds will benefit Santa Cruz City Schools, which serves 7,000 students. Since relocating to Santa Cruz for the 2012-2013 season, the D-League Warriors have partnered with the school district through the Read to Achieve and Math Warriors programs.
