New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

SACRAMENTO, CA - Nick Noonan drilled a two out single just past pitcher Nick Wittgren's glove into centerfield and Jarrett Parker scored from second base to score the game winning run and give Sacramento a 2-1 win in ten innings.

Baseball is a game of inches as the Z's nearly took the lead in the top of the tenth inning when Austin Nola drilled a fly ball to deep left field and Mac Williamson leaped against the wall and robbed him of a go ahead home run.

Sacramento scored first with a pair of hits in the second inning and Noonan hit a sacrifice fly to score Parker.

The Z's answered in the fifth inning when Kila Ka'aihue drilled a lead-off double and scored when Brandon Bantz grounded into a double play.

The two starting pitchers had fantastic starts. Travis Blackley allowed one run in seven innings on three hits. Ty Blach held New Orleans without a hit through the first four innings and allowed one run on three hits in eight innings of work.

Mike Broadway (2-0) earned the win in relief and Wittgren (1-5) took the loss.

Sacramento won their 13th consecutive game, a new franchise best. The Z's continue to struggle dropping their club record 14th consecutive and 22 of their last 24 games. Sacramento is 65-63, Zephyrs drop to 51-77.
