Bandits Advance to Championship with 5 to 2 Win

Hoover, AL. - August 15, 2015 - the Chicago Bandits come from behind to beat the Akron Racers to advance to the Final series against the USSSA Pride. The winning pitcher for the Bandits was Michelle Gascoigne going six innings, giving up two earned runs on three hits. She also struck out thee and walk three. Monica Abbott came in, in the seventh and got the save for the Bandits while striking out two.
The losing pitcher was Lisa Norris who struggled with her command on the mound during her 4 and 2/3 innings. She walked seven and gave up four runs and six hits. Norris finished the tournament with an 0-2 record.
Things started off well for the Racers when Nerissa Myers grounder went off 2nd baseman Danielle Zymkowitz glove with the bases load scoring two runs.
The Bandits would come back in the bottom of the 4th when Brenna Moss singled scoring Tammy Williams making the score 2 to 1 in favor of the Racers.
The Bandits would take control of the game in the bottom of the 5th, scoring four runs. Zymkowitz walked to tie the game at 2. Then Brittany Cervantes singled to right field scoring Williams. Griffin Joiner tried to throw Cervantes out at second but threw the ball into center scoring Allard and Zymkowitz giving the Bandits the 5 to 2 lead.
The Bandits wouldn't look back from there as they finished off the Racers season.
The Bandits will play the Pride in Game 1 of the NPF Championship at 2pm on Sunday at The Hoover Met. Game 2 will be contested on Monday at 7pm. Game 3, if necessary will be played at 7pm on Tuesday.
