Warriors Win West Division, Claim Number 1 Seed in Western Conference

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Bakersfield Jam 113-99 on Saturday night to clinch the West Division and earn a number 1 overall seed in the NBA D-League Western Conference Playoffs. Tonight's victory over the Jam marks Santa Cruz's first Division Title in franchise history, as they finish the regular season with a franchise-best record of 35-14.

Santa Cruz was paced by Golden State Warriors assignment player, Ognjen Kuzmic, who finished with 30 points and 7 rebounds. Elliot Williams contributed with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Bakersfield received a solid performance from Casey Prather who finished with 25 points. Xavier Munford logged 18 points.

Santa Cruz got a hot start in the early minutes of the opening frame, outscoring Bakersfield 33-19, and holding the Jam to a 36% team shooting effort. Santa Cruz would continue to increase their distance from the Jam in the second quarter, leading by as many as 26 points. Five different players for Santa Cruz entered the break scoring in double-figures, with Ognjen Kuzmic leading all scorers with 18 first-half points.

The Warriors would never relinquish their hold over the Jam despite the Jam's fourth quarter efforts to cut the Santa Cruz lead.

Prior to the completion of the game, Oklahoma clinched the #4 seed in the West with a win over the Erie Bayhawks and a loss by Rio Grande Valley to Los Angeles. Santa Cruz and Oklahoma City will meet in the first round of the D-League Playoffs, with Game 1 at Oklahoma City on Wednesday and Games 2 and 3 (if necessary) at Santa Cruz.
