Elmira Pioneers News Release

Elmira, NY - A trio of players from the ACC will call Historic Dunn Field home this summer. Taylor Folsom and Tim Delph, both freshman will be joined by Redshirt Freshman Will Zirzow for the 2015 season. The Seminoles are one of the premier teams in the ACC having been lead by legendary head Mike Martin. Martin is in his 36th season as head coach and has been associated with the program for 43 seasons.

Folsom, who hails from Doerun, GA starred in four sports at the Tiftarea Academy. During his senior year, Folsom went 6-2 with a 1.39 ERA and 80 strikeouts to go along with a First Team All-State selection. The 6'3" left handed pitcher was an instrumental part in leading Tiftarea to the Class AAA State Finals. Pioneers Head Coach Matt Burch said of Folsom, "Taylor is off to a good start this spring at FSU and we are looking forward to his athleticism on the mound this summer in Elmira".

Delph, who comes to Elmira via Bartow, FL played four years of baseball at Bartow High School. Delph led the Yellow Jackets to a District Championship, while also leading the team in batting average. During his senior season the 5'11" right handed swinging outfielder led all of Polk County (FL) in steals. Pioneers Head Coach Matt Burch said of Delph, "Timmy comes from a strong baseball family. He is a speedy player that will look to cover ground in the outfield and create havoc in the offensive running game".

Zirzow, who hails from Jacksonville, FL was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll (2013-14) after receiving a redshirt during his freshman campaign with the Seminoles. Zirzow brings a huge presence to the mound as the right handed pitcher comes in at 6'5" 220 pounds and was able to showcase that prior to FSU at Bolles High School. He helped to guide Bolles to two state championship appearances while garnering Under Armour Preseason All-America honors. Pioneers Head Coach Matt Burch said of Zirzow, "Zirzow will be an impact pitcher for the Pioneers this coming summer. His imposing size and competitive repertoire of pitches will enable his and the club's success throughout the 2015 PGCBL season".
