Springfield Cardinals News Release

Springfield, MO - The Texas League has announced that Springfield Cardinals C Cody Stanley and former Springfield Cardinals OF James Ramsey have been named to the 2014 Texas League Postseason All-Star Team. The exclusive Postseason All-Star Team is made up of the league's top players from both divisions, consisting of only 12 spots for position players and seven for pitchers.

Stanley, who was the 2014 Texas League All-Star Game MVP, has had one of the best overall seasons of any player in the circuit this year. The 25-year old native of Clinton, North Carolina has put together a .291 batting average with 12 home runs and 42 RBIs through 98 games this season. He has ranked among league leaders in batting average (currently 3rd) and slugging percentage (currently 5th at .439) all year, and provided the go-ahead two-run home run for the North Division in the Texas League All-Star Game.

In addition to putting together one of the best offensive seasons in the league, Stanley has provided unmatched work behind the plate. He has led the North Division all season, and currently ranks 2nd in the league, in caught-stealing percentage, nabbing an impressive 44.3% (27x61) of would-be base stealers. Additionally, the backstop has only been charged with three passed balls all year, tied with fellow Cardinals C Travis Tartamella for the fewest among catchers in the league with similar amounts of innings. Stanley was selected by St. Louis in the 4th round of the 2010 June Draft out of the University of North Carolina - Wilmington.

Ramsey, also a 2014 Texas League Midseason All-Star, suited up in 67 games and compiled some of the most impressive offensive numbers in the league before being traded to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for RHP Justin Masterson on July 30. With Springfield, the 24-year old from Alpharetta, Georgia hit .300 with 13 home runs, 14 doubles and 36 RBIs. In 23 games since joining the Columbus Clippers (Triple-A, Cleveland), he has put together a .307 average with three homers and 16 RBIs.

Ramsey took the league by storm this season, claiming the campaign's first Texas League Player of the Week Award, hitting .410 with four home runs, 11 RBIs, eight extra-base hits, an .846 slugging percentage and 10 runs scored through the first 10 games. He also represented St. Louis in the 2014 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game during the Major League All-Star Break. Ramsey was selected by the Cardinals in the 1st round of the 2012 June Draft out of Florida State.

The Texas League also announced that Arkansas Travelers 2B Alex Yarbrough has been named the Player of the Year, Tulsa Drillers LHP Tyler Anderson has won the Pitcher of the Year, Frisco RoughRiders Manager Jason Wood is Manager of the Year and Frisco Pitching Coach Jeff Andrews has been named the Mike Coolbaugh Texas League Coach of the Year.
