MORRISTOWN, N.J. (Nov. 7, 2013) - Sky Blue FC announced today the club has agreed to send forward Danesha Adams on loan to Atasehir Belediyespor of the Turkish Women's League.
She will return to Sky Blue FC prior to the 2014 National Women's Soccer League season.
"We are glad that Danesha has found a place to play on loan in the offseason," said Sky Blue FC Head Coach Jim Gabarra. "All players have to find the right fit for them to continue to grow and we hope this is the case here."
Adams, who signed with Sky Blue FC in February 2013, is eagerly awaiting the overseas challenge ahead.
"I have heard nothing but nice things about Istanbul," said Adams. "I'm excited to be able to bring my experience to a country where soccer is not really recognized for women. I am all about trying to grow this game I love so much."
Adams, 27, began her professional career with the Chicago Red Stars in 2009 before suiting up for the Philadelphia Independence in WPS the following two seasons. Prior to turning professional, Adams was the leading scorer of a Pali Blues Soccer Club that had a perfect run to the USL W-League Championship in 2008. She was also named U.S. Soccer's Young Female Athlete of the Year in 2006.
Since WPS, Adams has spent time playing overseas, first with Medkila IL in Norway's Toppserien in 2011 and most recently in Sweden with Vittsj̮̦ GIK of the Damallsvenskan.
Adams appeared in 21 matches for Sky Blue FC during the 2013 season, making 20 starts. The UCLA product tallied three goals and three assists in 1,669 minutes of action.
