Mississauga Power News Release

(Mississauga, ON - ) The Mississauga Power are very excited to announce the return of former #1 overall pick, Morgan Lewis, pending FIBA clearance. Lewis, a 6'5 guard was drafted as the very first #1 pick in the NBLC draft and played for the Power during the NBLC's inaugural season in 2011. Lewis returns to the Power after a one year stint with the London Lightning, in which he succeeded in capturing a championship ring. "It's always good to bring back a fan favourite" stated team President Henry Chow. "We welcome Morgan back with open arms and we are very excited with what he brings to our organization".

Lewis is a do-it-all type player, capable of scoring, defending & rebounding. He averaged 16.8 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game, 3.7 assists per game & 2.3 steals per game in 25 games for the Power in 2011. Lewis was a NBLC all-star and earned player of the week honours twice during his tenure with the Power. One of his best games came on his 25th birthday on February 10th, 2012 when he tallied 39 points, 10 rebounds & 6 assists in a 131-127 win against the Summerside Storm. "I'm thrilled to be back with the team that originally saw my potential." stated Lewis, "I will work my butt off and adapting my game to excel with my new teammates and fit into the game plan any way I can."

Following the 2011-2012 season, the London Lightning put in a bid for Lewis that the Power could not match at the time. Lewis now returns to his former home and will join a cast that includes Nick Okorie & Bol Kong in a quest to bring a NBLC Championship to Mississauga. Lewis feels that the team can compete right away: "I am excited to play for a team that I know will compete for a championship. Coming off a championship in London, I know what it takes to separate ourselves from the pack and I plan to come into this team and earn my respect from my teammates and be a leader by example".

The Mississauga Power will tip off the 2013-2014 season on November 5th against the Brampton A's at the Hershey Centre. Season tickets are on sale now! Visit www.powerbasketball.ca for ticket information.
