Westerns Sign Two Players from Southern New Hampshire

Danbury, CT- May 22, 2013: The Danbury Westerners, the longest tenured team in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, are proud to announce the signing of Southern New Hampshire University's Riley Palmer and Greg Pezzuto.
Riley Palmer (Goffstown, NH) is a junior corner infielder for the Southern New Hampshire Penmen. Riley batted .254 on the season and led the team in RBIs with 38. Riley also led the team in extra base hits with 16 (6 2B, 5 3B, 5 HR). He was named the Class L Player of the Year during his senior year at Goffstown High School when he batted .462 with seven home runs. Riley was also a two-time First-Team All-State selection. Riley is the son of Allan and Jamie Palmer and is majoring in Sports Management.
Greg Pezzuto (Hasting-on-Hudson, NY) is a junior outfielder at Southern New Hampshire. Greg appeared in 29 games this season and recorded 14 hits. Greg scored seven runs and drove in seven as well. Last year, Greg batted .252 in 40 games while driving in 11 runs. Greg was an All-League and All-State selection in his senior year at Hastings High School. Greg is the son of Jim and Bonnie Pezzuto, and is majoring in Business Administration.
Paul Schaffer, President of the Danbury Westerners commented, "The Westerners have had a very good relationship with Southern New Hampshire, and each year quality ballplayers from the university play for us. I'm sure Riley and Greg will be valuable contributors throughout the upcoming season."
The Danbury Westerners 9th annual Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at Richter Park, Danbury CT. Former professional athletes tentatively scheduled to appear include New York Yankee World Series Champion Tommy John and New York Giants Super Bowl Champion Jeff Feagles.
