EDMONTON, Ab. (May 16, 2013) - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that the club has recalled centre back Carlyle Mitchell for Saturday's Major League Soccer (MLS) match against Portland Timbers at BC Place. Mitchell has been on loan at North American Soccer League (NASL) club FC Edmonton since March.

"With our team having had a very busy schedule of late and with Johnny Leveron suspended for this match, we felt it was a good time to call Carlyle back into the team," said Whitecaps FC head coach Martin Rennie. "He has been doing quite well with Edmonton, so we're pleased to have him available this weekend."

Mitchell, 25, has played every minute for FC Edmonton so far during their NASL season, starting all six matches for a total of 540 minutes. His contributions have helped Edmonton to a tie for second place in the league standings.

The 6-foot-2 defender joined Whitecaps FC on September 14, 2011, after starting his professional career in his home country with Joe Public FC in the Trinidad and Tobago Professional Football League. In two seasons in Vancouver, Mitchell has started five MLS regular season matches.
